The fact that Finland can be seen as a birthplace for fine young
talented bands is about to be proved another time by this death metal
combo haling from that mysterious land. Only existing for something more
as a year, this quintet delivers a nice piece of a debut demo! The sound
of this nameless four-track blasts in your face from the very first riff
and doesn't stop until the fourth song. *Hateform* plays aggressive
thrash/death metal with every now and then some melodic elements and
decent solo's mixed through the sound.
For a first demo the production
is from a good level with the volume played on ten. The song structures
are built up okay, yet it could have given more surprising effects to it
so that the songs would get a bit more exciting to listen. All four
songs play in the same up tempo with sometimes some slow downs and
faster accelerations. Just to listen these four songs it is satisfying,
but on a full-length album I guess there should be some more different
songs on it to keep the entire album hold the tension. The song "Warbringer" has a recognizable riff that has a certain Callenish
Circle sounds in it, only played less technical and more
straight-forward. The vocalist sings in a brutal thrash/death voice like
Max Cavalera in his (real) old Sepultura days and in the refrain of the
song "Dead" even the name Jan-Chris De Koeyer (Gorefest) pops up in my
head.
It's nothing new what these Finnish guys provide us, but it is efficient
and decent. For a debut I think this is very nice to come up with and
thus there will be enough opportunities on the rise!
